ive been enjoying my new playlist quite a bit but i think some of the songs on there are starting to get a bit dull. and this is basically something that happens every single time i try to make a playlist. yknow, for a long time i just had one big playlist with like 4000 songs on it. no specific playlists for certain moods, just one big playlist to rule them all.
the problem is that after a while, the songs added at the beginning of the playlist start to get super stale to the point of unlistenability. i mean, i have songs on here that i added in like 2018, which is seven god damn years ago at this point. if i was listening to this consistently across those seven years, those songs would be beyond old.
so i made a new playlist a few months ago near the beginning of the year, and its been serving me well for the most part but i cant help but notice that it gets a bit stale itself a lot of the time. i like the idea of not having playlists for certain moods and really just having one big masterplaylist with all the songs i like on there, but if it lasts for any longer than a couple months i start to get really bored of a lot of the songs added near the beginning.
im thinking about potentially instantiating another playlist. all the songs have to be new. theres no adding songs from either my big playlist or my recent smaller playlist, thats not allowed. i also might consider making a new one of these every couple of months, just so that it stays fresh. i like this idea because its gonna force me to discover more music instead of just spamming stuff i already know i like, which is a goal of mine. i feel like this might be a problem a lot of people relate to, especially if you listen to a lot of music. you sorta just squeeze all the dopamine out of a song and move onto the next one. im gonna try and avoid this and instead focus more of my music listening efforts on discovering more stuff. theres a good video i saw recently about ways to discover music without the spotify algorithm that im gonna try and take the advice of.
