WOW THIS IS PEAK
I originally thought this was just going to be some sorta midwest emo/punk stuff from the first couple songs I heard off of it, but it is SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. It does have some of that midwest emo brave little abacus vibe to it a little bit, but in a much more indie rock way. It gives me some similar vibes to Tally Hall, which is one of the highest praises I can give a band, believe it or not. Not that Tally Hall is peak music necessarily or anything, but their music has hype and aura moments that not a lot of other stuff I listen to can compare to. This album is good in a similar way, it just gives me a cozy feeling with all of its sweet distorted keyboard sounds and fuzzy lo-fi production. This album can rock out or be tender or do both at the same time, and it’s everything indie rock should be. Reminds me heavily of Alex G and Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, both great company to be in, but it has a slightly goofier side which gave me that Tally Hall hit that I don’t get very often. Just gives me the biggest grin listening to this stuff, even the more “sad” songs on here.
